The villa is comprised of 8 spacious guest rooms, some of which offer beautiful views of the Indian Ocean. There are two types of rooms, standard which have ceiling fans and deluxe which have both air conditioning and ceiling fans. A modern yet simple hotel perched on the edge of Madiha Beach in Matara.
Matara is the perfect base to explore Sri Lanka's exotic coast. Many of the key attractions such as Galle Fort and Mirissa Beach are located in close proximity. It is also the ideal starting point to a journey into the hill country.
Said to be the last major defence post built by the Dutch, the fort never had the chance to prove its effectiveness. In 1796 the fort was handed over to the British with the surrender of the Sri Lankan territory by the Dutch.
Just west of Matara town, you will find the hugely popular Polhena beach. It is a great place to visit if you have kids, as the beach is protected naturally by coral reefs and offers safe swimming conditions through most of the year.
Just about twenty minutes’ drive from Savenrose is the southernmost point of Sri Lanka, Dondra Point. Along with Mirissa, these are the two most popular ports, where whale watching excursions embark.
Sri Lanka is blessed with multiple surfing hotspots spread across the island. The beaches of Weligama, Mirissa and Unawatuna are all within 30 mintues to an hour’s drive from Savenrose.
Unawatuna is one of the most vibrant beach stretches you will find anywhere on the island. The crescent shaped bay is very popular amongst the backpackers as well as young travellers and it is host to numerous bars, cafes and clubs.
Not only is Mirissa Beach known for whale watching, and surfing but it is one of the most chilled out places to wind down. Unlike its counterpart Unawatuna, Mirissa is far less crowded and only has a handful of beach cafes, bars and restaurants.
Sri Lanka is included among the top five biodiversity hotspots in the world. Asian elephants, sloth bears, leopards & sambar are some of the species that can be witnessed at Yala National Park in the South East Coast.
The best-preserved sea fort in South Asia the Dutch fort is UNESCO world heritage site. This 90-hectare attraction is a superb blend of architecture, with fortifications that resemble those in the coastal areas of Portugal.
Matara is an ideal location to continue your journey to the Sri Lankan hill country. The quaint little town of Ella is 3.5 hours drive from Savenrose. The area has a rich bio-diversity dense with numerous varieties of flora and fauna.
